Herb Moore

Herb is a life-long Somerset County Resident who is married to Carol Ann and are parents to four children and nine grandchildren. Herb attends St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Windber, PA. Herb retired after 37 years of teaching and coaching at Shade Central City Schools; summer Driver's Ed. at Conemaugh Township High School (26 years) and evening Adult Education classes and Minority Youth Programs at The Greater Johnstown Career & Technology Center (12 years). Herb has also served as Group Leader for PA Youth Conservation Corp. and Youth Traffic Safety Council Adviser at Shade High School. Herb has also served as a PIAA basketball and baseball official for high school sports for 54 years as well as softball little league, American Legion, and Johnstown Jr. AAABA Collegiate League; having been selected in 2016 to umpire The Final AAA High School State Championship Game.

Herb is a graduate of the former Jenner-Boswell High School and received a B.S. Ed. in Business (Accounting Major) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Herb then went on to receive a Masters Ed. in Business at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. Herb has completed post graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown and received his Social Studies teaching certification from California University of Pennsylvania.

Herb was selected, honored and appeared in the National Who's Who Among America's Teachers (1992) and received a PIAA gold watch for 35 years of service in 2000. Herb was also selected to be on the PIAA Hall of Honor in Mechanicsburg for 50 years of service in 2015. Herb has been a member of the SCEA, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the National Education Association, and the Fututre Business Leaders of America. Herb is also a member of the Abbruzzi Lodge Home Association, PIAA, East Hills Recreation Center, Windber Health Styles, PA Association for Safety Education, National Association of Student Councils, PIAA Somerset County Basketball and Baseball Chapters, Tri-County Baseball Umpire Association, Somerset County Baseball Oldtimer's Association, PA Football Coaches Association, Windber, Geistown, and American Legion Umpire Baseball Chapters, and a past member of the Windber School Board.
